1st Week
Students cleaned-up/organized their files within the school network and Google Drive, placing all 5th grade work within one folder. 6th grade work/documents should be placed into a folder for EACH core class/teacher. Students also updated their bookmark/favorites bar and personalize thier Windows Start screen.
This 1st month of the 1st trimester, 6th graders will be practicing their keyboarding skills on typing.com which include weekly typing tests. Students will be practicing proper typing posture & technique listed below.
1) Sitting w/ feet flat on the floor.
2) Sitting back in their seat and upright (not slouching).
3) Arms straight out to the keyboard (adjust seat height if needed/possible).
4) FINGERS ON THE HOMEROW (as much as possible).
5) EYES ON THE SCREEN, if needed, view the keyboard on the screen rather than looking down to fingers/hands.
Students will focus on home row, top home row and bottom home row keys.
This is very difficult especially in the beginning, but with practice, good habits will benefit students for many years to come.
The 6th grade will spend much time on the 21 Things 4 Students website completing quests within #1 Computer BASICS.
